T The objective of the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care Management qualification is to equip learners with the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills required for a career or further study in the health and social care sector at a managerial level. The programme enables learners to demonstrate their skills by producing evidence from their work or training activities.
Learners will study Level 4 and Level 5 units, each worth 120 credits per academic year, totaling 240 credits. This total is equivalent to the first two years of an honours degree. The Level 4 units lay the foundation of learning by introducing contemporary Health and Social Care topics. These units combine both theoretical and practical knowledge in the profession. They will develop and enhance skills in areas such as equality, diversity, professional development, and patient assessment. Additionally, learners will gain knowledge in resource management, health and safety, risk assessment, and communication. The Level 5 units offer learners the chance to progress in specific occupational areas. In these units, learners will further develop skills in effective partnership working, managing the care of vulnerable individuals, and safeguarding. Moreover, they will study health education, team management, and professional supervision practices. Learners will also learn how to complete a research project. The OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care Management qualification consists of 12 mandatory units, 240 credits, 2400 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and the recommended Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for this qualification is a minimum of 1200 hours.
To achieve the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care Management, learners must achieve 240 credits in total, of which 120 credits are at Level 4 (6 units) and 120 credits are at Level 5 (6 units). Level 4: 6 Mandatory units

All units within this qualification are internally assessed by the center and externally verified by OTHM. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. Judgment that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by the Assessor. The Assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the judgment of the learners’ overall achievement has been arrived at. |
