Overview |
|||||||
The objective of the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Education and Training Management qualification is to develop a learner’s practical teaching skills and prepare them to work in a wide range of educational and training contexts.
Learners will study Level 4 and Level 5 units, each worth 120 credits per academic year. This structure results in a total credit value of 240 credits, which is equivalent to the first two years of an honours degree. The Level 4 units introduce learners to essential education and training principles and practices. These units combine theoretical and practical content. Learners will gain knowledge and skills in areas such as education program design, learner engagement, and planning and monitoring their own work. Additionally, they will learn to evaluate the quality of education and training provision. Reflecting on current practices and identifying personal learning needs and professional development are also key aspects of these units. The Level 5 units offer learners the chance to advance in specific subject areas. They will develop and enhance knowledge in learning and assessment, behaviour management, and effective communication. Furthermore, learners will explore concepts of lifelong learning, resource planning, management, leadership, and continued professional development. Please note, the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Education and Training Management does not qualify learners for QTLS or recognized teacher status. However, it does provide the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for a teaching role. |

Assessment |
|||||||
All units in this qualification undergo internal assessment by the center, with external verification by OTHM. These qualifications follow a criterion-referenced approach, focusing on achieving all specified learning outcomes.
To pass a unit, learners must actively provide evidence showing they have met all learning outcomes. Additionally, they must meet the standards outlined in the assessment criteria. The assessor makes the judgment on whether learners have successfully fulfilled these criteria. Moreover, the assessor creates an audit trail that explains how they determined the learners’ overall achievement. Specific assessment guidance and relevant marking criteria for each unit are available in the Assignment Brief document. Centers can request this document to ensure clear and consistent assessment standards. |
